cannot connect gatttool

I have a tzone bt04 BLE Temp data logger, However I'm unable to connect to it using gatttool -t random -I

I want to access it's gatt services to fetch historical data. Currently doing the connection from ubuntu with bluez 5.46

Note : I can connect to the device using hcitool lecc --random and then access the connection session using bluetoothctl , however bluetoothctl doesn't seem able to write on descriptors.

Any ideas ?

Can you please describe your setup. Are you running any examples from the SDK, or have you created a custom service? Does the characteristic have write permissions?
