How to downgrade in ble version?

Hi all, I'm using chip nrf52832 with the last enabled stack which integrates the adaptive upgrade for bluetooth 5.0. However I'm insterested in long range and that's upgrade or BLE 4.2 has a range of 10 meters. I would like to know if there is an example with BLE 4.0 implementation to allow larger range? Thanks in advance!

  • Hi

The main difference between Bluetooth 4.x and 5 in terms of range is the addition of the long range mode in Bluetooth 5, but you can still achieve pretty decent range with the standard 1Mbps data rate available in Bluetooth 4.x.

Some of our later devices allow you to increase the output power to +4 or +8 dBm, and this improves range regardless of what Bluetooth standard you follow. Several hundred meters of range line of sight should not be a problem, whereas indoor range is shorter (around 30-50m in most cases).
