Do BLE Mesh nodes send out "normal" advertisement packet at all?

I ported both the provisioner and provisionee program respectively to 2 different boards, but couldn't detect the advertising package of neither.

Do they send exclusively customized (per BLE Mesh specs) advertising packets only and no "real" advertising packets?

The examples do not send out normal advertisements, but the SoftDevice is used and enabled, so it shouldn't be to hard to add it.

The Bluetooth Mesh uses the timeslot API and direct radio access to send out Mesh packets.
