Can GPIO drive 20mA led?

Hi. I'm using nRF52832. I want to add LEDs. Can it drive 20mA for LED? As I see the datasheet, GPIO pins have "High drive" function. What deos it mean? I hope your reply.

  • No you can't. The meaning of the drive modes is in the spec and in the electrical characteristics of the GPIO, all specified for all drive modes.

Basically with high drive you can pull a max of about 15mA for the entire chip.

If you just typed 'High Drive Current' into the search box you would have found many discussions about this.
