Cannot connect beacon to android app

I have ordered two "nRF51822 Bluetooth Smart Beacon Kit"s on this page: www.nordicsemi.com/.../nRF51822-Bluetooth-Smart-Beacon-Kit, and got these two:

I've downloaded the android source code provided there, built and ran the app on my phone, then turned on the beacons, but the beacons wasn't detected.

I try to download the play store app: play.google.com/.../details. Still the beacons wasn't detected.

Finally tried this app: play.google.com/.../details. And the beacons got detected on my phone.

Then I noticed that the beacon on the video, on the web, is slightly different from the beacon that I bought.

Basically I just want a working android source code for these beacons. So is there something wrong with what I did above? Or am I got different beacons, so it's not going to be detected on the provided android source code? Thank you.

Footnote: these don't look like nRF51822 Beacon Kits from Nordic;) More like some Chinese beacons from Aliexpress (nothing bad with them, just who knows what FW is inside...)
