Is it legal to use 16 bit service data for custom advertisement?

Hi! I've found out that, according to this specification www.bluetooth.com/.../16-bit-uuids-for-members 16bit uuids can be bought by companies. But, on the other hand, i haven't found any information about if i can or not use any uuids that aren't yet bought. Does anyone know more about it?

No you can't. The BT SIG owns all the 16 bit ones so if you are making a commercial product you won't get certified if you use one. And if you are making a non-commercial product you will be surprised when the number gets assigned and your product starts connecting to things it doesn't expect.
