How do you charge Thingy:52?

Worked out of the box. The next day it would not turn ON. Tried charging with and without power switch ON. Charged from an Apple iphone brick and also from a computer USB port. No indication lights when charging. When device is turned ON, no lights. Any suggestions?

  • To be able to charge the Thingy, you need to have the power switch on. Try charging from a 5V USB power adapter like one of these. (I assume by iphone brick, you mean the white iPhone charger, right?) Otherwise, you can also connect the usb cable to a usb port on your computer that is able to charge the Thingy. Have you turned the LED off under the UI tab in the Thingy app? If you have, the LED won't turn on. So my suggestion: turn the power switch on, connect a 5V usb power adapter with cable to the Thingy, wait a few minutes and then connect your phone via the Thingy app to the Thingy. Once you are connected, you can turn the LED back on under the UI tab (assuming you turned the LED off). Hope that helps!

  • This worked, thanks. I had not tried to connect to it while it was being charged, but this worked. LED was off in the APP.
