How to auto-connect after disconnect?

I have created a device that will connect and pair with one central. I would like it to re-connect automatically after disconnecting because it was out of range or turned off then back on. I think this should be the centrals responsibility. Is it the applications job to monitor the scan and issue a connect once back in range? I am creating the central also and it could be running on a number of devices including linux with bluez. I have not found a good way to automate the re-connect. It seems like this should be very common.

Hi Jlarsen,

It's correct that it's the central responsibility to reconnect. I'm not very familiar with BlueZ but on Android and iOS you can do that by setting autoconnect= true. Have a look here.

Doing a quick search on BlueZ + autoconnect I found some discussions on google.

Thanks Hung Bui.  With Bluez 5.48 auto-connect turns out to be quite difficult if you are not a HID.
