pca10028 what is it?

I got a new nRF51-DK board. I was planning on using USB to program it.

On the board I see pca10028 sticker. What is this? Also in the SDK I see pca10028, and other pca. What are all those? Which example file do I need to use pca10028?

I am planning on using Eclipse. So I was using the folder under pca10028 as my project. Does this make sense? nRF51_SDK\examples\ble_peripheral\ble_app_hrs\pca10028\s130\armgcc\

After compile I see .hex file created in .build folder. How do I copy this into nRF51-DK?

When I drag the .hex file in mbed-Drive. nothing is happening..

This .hex file was only 5KB. When I did mbed program, that .hex file was more than 30K for the blinky program

What am I missing?

Would it be correct to assume that pca refers to "Printed Circuit Assembly?" If so, this mean the PCB (Printer Circuit Board) plus the components, making it a full assembly). This would then be used to refer to a particular development board.

I skimmed almost entire documentation of Nordic, but didn't find any reference of what PCA stands for. Looking forward for someone to reply on this along with release IC number matrix for PCA releases just like soft devices.

It doesn't really matter what "PCA" stands for.

As already noted, It's just the Nordic part number for their boards - they are all PCAnnnnn.

• If you have a board, and want to know what it is - just google the board's part number.
   
• If you have a particular chip in mind, and want to know what board(s) use it,  just go to the chip's product page - relevant development tools will be mentioned there.

Hi,

It stands for "Printed Circuit Assembly", just as Andrew suggested in this thread three years ago, but as awneil commented the name is not important. It is just a way for us to name our various development kits and other boards.

What IC is used on a particular PCA, such as a Development Kit or Dongle, is stated in the documentation for that PCA.

Can you elaborate on what information you find to be missing?
