Newbie: send keystrokes

As a complete newbie to this a bit of guidance would be really helpful to point me in the right direction.

I want to create a simple device with a couple of switches (physical things that people press) that sends via Bluetooth to an Android tablet with the effect that pressing switch 1 results in the active (third-party) app on Android receiving a Page-Up and switch 2 is Page-Down. Android needs (I think) to see it as Bluetooth keyboard.

What approach and product(s) would work for this?

First off, I would download Segger Embedded Studio, which is a free IDE for Nordic SDK users (evenif you are doing a commercial project). Then, take a look at the Nordic youtube playlist for getting started with SES. Next, download the nordic 14.2 SDK, choose the pca10040 folder for example & open up the ses folder & open the ble_app_hids_keyboard_pca10040_s132 example code. This example is located in sdk14.2/examples/ble_peripheral/ble_app_hids_keyboard. Might also be useful to have a look over at the Nordic Infocenter too.

Finally, if I were you, I would buy an nrf52 development kit (DK) because this is imho the best way to get started with developing with Nordic products. You can use two of the four bottons on the DK to do the page up & page down commands you were talking about.
