How to use nRF52832 in mesh condition with an external MCU?

It is a sensing-processing-actuation based application. Just want to use the nRF52832 module for BLE communication( a part of the application). Is there a direct API in the mesh SDK for the external MCU to directly talk to the nRF52 device over UART via AT-commands or call packets? Or else is there some other way by which it can be done?

Roll up your sleeves and write your own AT-command processing logic :) It's not difficult, I have done it, and so can you!

Since I am very new to this firmware development, may I request you for an additional advice on what should be a good starting point for writing my own AT-command processing logic? If you could point me to some reference doc./code that I can follow, it'll be very helpful. Thanks.
