It is hard to understand BLE advertising date
Hi
I find this article to be a good primer on BLE advertising:
http://www.argenox.com/a-ble-advertising-primer/
It includes a link to the Bluetooth SIG list of advertising types, which are the different things you can send in an advertising packet.
If you have an Android device then the nRFConnect app for android allows you to decode the advertising packets of any nearby advertisers, breaking down the different bytes and fields to show you what they include. This also helps give you an understanding of how the packet is built up.
Edit: Embarrassingly enough I forgot that my colleague Hung also wrote a nice devzone blog about advertising: https://devzone.nordicsemi.com/blogs/782/bluetooth-smart-and-the-nordics-softdevices-part-1/
Best regards
Torbjørn
