Qualification of nRF52832

Hi all,

We are ready to have our product released and need to have it tested and certified for release in the following markets:

• North America = FCC IC
• Europe = EC
• Japan = Telec

and have it bluetooth certified so we can have the symbol.

We based our board off of the reference designs and now I am wondering if there are any certs that Nordic has that we can piggy pack off of or do we have to start from ground zero.

And where can I find assistance on getting this process done?

Our stack and chip is already qualified, you only need to do Declaration for your product. Please follow the instruction here: www.bluetooth.com/.../declare-your-product

I think @Sensorion was mainly referring to using the FCC approvals on the DK board as a method to speed up their FCC approval, as @Sensorion said their design is "based" on the DK.

However, I didnt reply, because AFIK, all boards that require FCC and other RF approvals need to be independently tested and those test results used as part of the application for FCC approval

Hi Roger,

Yeah, I was thinking he was only asking about BLE qualification. For FCC we don't do any pre-qualification, maybe there are some module from our partner has FCC qualified. What we can do is to check and verify that it can pass FCC certification.

Follow up question as I educate myself in this area,

As I now understand it, there are two main types of testing, intentional radiation and unintentional radiation testing. Also I believe that Noridic does the intentional radiation tests and that those are covered under the QDID. Is this correct?

This means that we end users only need to perform the tests for unintentional radiation tests, as well as any others such as ROHS or safety tests as required by the target country.

Anything I got wrong?

Both intentional and unintentional radiation can be effected by your design, and the hardware components you use in your manufacturing

I believe the "intentional radiation and unintentional radiation testing" are for the FCC (and other common radio regulation). The QDIDs Nordic provides is barely for Bluetooth qualification, it's not related to FCC. You should contact a test house to discuss this matter.
