PCA10056 external JLink and interface MCU virtual COM port

I would like to use an external JLink and the interface MCU's virtual COM at the same time. I want to control the nRF52840 via UART connection using one host (Raspberry Pi) but debug using a different host PC.

If I set SW6 to "nRF ONLY" position, I realise I can completely isolate the interface MCU and this works fine for the external JLink but then of course UART is not connect to the interface MCU any more.

If I set SW6 to "DEFAULT" position, then both UART and SWD are connected to the interface MCU, thus I cannot use an external JLink.

Is there any way I can do this, or is it either both through the interface MCU (SW6=DEFAULT) or a separate JLink and a separate external USB-serial converter connected to (SW6=nRF ONLY) through P0.06 and P0.08?

I actually thought I would try it with SW6=DEFAULT and connecting the external JLink anyway and it does actually seem to work, so I have achieved what I wanted to do.
