Recommend nRF52832 custom board External Programmer?

Hi Sir,

We have designed custom nRF52832 board in PCB design layout have 4 Pin connector VDD, SWCLK, SWD, GND. I know how to use nRF52832 DK for programming. But for other user we need to only flash first time nRF52832 softdevice, bootloader, and application hex file into nRF52832 using nrf go studio. I do not need to debug custom PCB board. I know j-link programmer but it is very expensive only for flash hex file this mush too costly. I have found ST-LINK/V2 here I have few question on nRF52832 programmer:

  1. Can i use this ST link for flashing boot loader, SD, application hex file using nrf go studio software.
  2. If yes is it need to convert J link to ST link how detect my custom board in laptop using ST link.
  3. Suggest me other nRF52832 programmer it will not more costly.

Thanks......

  • You can use one of the Nordic development kits to program a custom board, we currently use the P20 connector on the PCA10040 board to program our custom board.

  • The DK can be used to program custom boards for prototyping/development work. But it is a violation of the Segger licensing agreement to use it for production work. You have to use a normal J-Link or similar for production.

  • Apologies, I did not read your initial question properly.

  • Apologies not necessary. Vishal didn't specify. I just thought it was a good idea to clarify the statement of use. I'm sure a lot of people abuse the Segger hardware and it just seems fair to state clearly when one should buy the real stuff from them.

  • Hi to all,

As per my question this is not ans i know can use Nordic DK will use as a programmer but instead of this ST link programmer is it use or not. If not can you suggest me any other external programmer not needed debug only for flash hex file(Not expensive).
    Thanks .......
