nrf52832 high consumption

Hello ,

I use nrf52832 in my custom card, I developed everything on the develeppement kits nrf52, and when I merge to the custom card, I remerque that there is a huge consumption (passage 3.5 V has 2,6v in 30 min)
I will be grateful if you can help me

thanks,

  • I  am guessing you have unrealistic expectations for a CR2032 battery.  If you look at the specs for these batteries they specify a max continuous load of 0.2mA.

RX or TX activity will easily draw 10mA which is 50 times greater than the recommended load for a CR2032.

Due to the high internal resistance of a CR2032 during high load you will see a very large drop in output voltage that will generally recover if the battery is allowed to rest for a few seconds. However, this type of operation will significantly reduce the capacity of the battery overall due to to internal losses.

You can only operate a BLE device on a CR2032 with only very light duty and lots of local capacitance. Our designs generally have over 100uF of local capacitance to keep the voltage drop to a minimum.

By the way a CR2032 is considered nominal 3.0volts not 3.5.  Though when brand new their rest voltage will often be 3.3volts.

  • Thanks ,

how can I use CR2032, like a battery or what you suggest as battery, if not is there a solution to the level of hardware or software to reduce energy consumption

  • Hello, Ahmed. We using Li-SOCl2 batteries from SAFT for those type of use.
