Reading Device ID in production

Hi,

we are currently planning how to productize our IOT module which is based on nRF52832.  We most probably use pre-flashed SOCs, but the we should be able to read Device ID from the chip. Method should be simple and fast. Preferred, not to establish any radio connections, i.e. galvanic interface to be used.

How to do that? Should we use UART or debugging interface or what?

Hi Kari,

 

I'd recommend using the SWD interface, especially if this is a part of your production. You can choose to read out one of the random generated registers in FICR (for instance DEVICEID), or write your own S/N in the UICR section for instance.

Maybe you want to read out the Bluetooth address?

The bluetooth address is derived from the NRF_FICR->DEVICEADDR[] registers. Read more about this in this thread:
