Configuration of SPIM-Frequency on the nRF52840 not according to datasheet

Dear Nordic-Support,

my questions are in regard to the nRF52840 PDK and the SPIM-frequency rates.

1. The Objective Product specification lists possible configuration of 16/32 MHz rates on page 348 - However when configuring this with the example spi-project from the sdk, it resulted in 625kHz. Why is that?
2. The listed configuration breaks the inert logic when comparing the 16/32MHz register values to the values listed before, is that section of the product specification correct?
3. Can you provide a more detailed description what happens with the register-values in regard to configuring the spi-clock? the connection is not described in the objective product specification?
4. Is there a way to have a 16/32MHz SPI-Slave or is this setting only for the Master?
5. Is it possible to configure 10/15, or 20MHz for the SPIM?

Hi,

As Jörg mentions, there are plenty of known issues with SPIM3 (the only high speed SPIM module) in the nRF52840 Engineering revisions. The Engineering A revision of the chip doesn't even include a functional SPIM3: [145] SPIM: SPIM3 not functional.

Make sure to read the Errata of your chip revision.
