nRF24LE how to start developing

I am finding it difficult to figure out what is the minimum toolchain requirement to get started developing using the nRF24LE / U.

  1. Is Kiel the only compiler ? Can SDCC or any other free tool work?
  2. What is the least cost programmer / debugger that can be used?
  3. I need a full reference design for the nRF24LU+ USB (non SoC) and LE+ (SoC) version. The smallest design with trace antenna to incorporate it into my board. What is the process to get this and who should I contact !

Can someone please help me with the above ?

Thanks!

    1. I would recommend using Keil. We do not have any reference code for SDCC.

    2. As far as I know; The nRFgo Starter kit would be the cheapest debug/programming option for development.

    3. For the nRF24LE1, the reference designs available on our website has a very small design area: www.nordicsemi.com/.../nRF24LE1

However, for the nRF24LU1P, you can take a look at the nRFready Desktop hardware files. However, this design requires a product key (I'll send you a PM).

    Best regards, Håkon

edit: uploaded the antenna we use in our dongle ref design here.
