Remove coin cell from Dev Kits

While Digikey is listed as a Canadian supplier, they do not have ANY of the dev kits. That is to say, they won't ship them to Canada. They have them. They are listed on nordic's site as a Canadian Distributor but they do not.

The reason is the coin cell and lithium battery shipping. I've tried this for many companies.

Some distributors can ship, but they have their own challenges. For instance Mouser has refused orders from me every single time the shipping and billing address differs stating I should add the shipping address to my credit card... which I can't do because my Canadian bank lists the ability to only have 1 address (personal card, maybe business is different).

So I'm stuck. I can't order a new DK kit from just about any Canadian distributor and it's a similar problem being faced in other countries I've heard.

PLEASE ditch the coin cell in the DK kit, we can find these EVERYWHERE. We can't find the DK's ANYWHERE because of this.

  • Hey Keith,

I've contacted our Regional Sales Manager, David Day, and asked him to help us find a solution. He will report the issue of distributing the DKs to Product ManagemenT, and try to find a way to get a DK shipped to you.

    Cheers,

    Håkon.

  • Hi Keith. We are also Canadian and faced similar issues with the nr52 Thingy kit which features yet another style of battery. Digikey and Mouser both would not ship us the kits. However, contact Arrow who is willing ship to Canadians. They are ok with the required paperwork and use ground consolidation to ship to us Canadian "foreigners". Hope this helps.

PS: Through Arrow, have sourced the nRF52832, nRF52840 and Thingy 52 kit along with a ST Sensor Tile which of course also has a battery. Once again, Digikey and Mouser black listed our purchase of the ST Sensor Tile due to the airline rules and such batteries. Arrow was ok but on some of our purchases, took an extra day or so for processing and delayed ground shipping. We are in Ontario.
