How far is the maximum range it can reach while keeping the data rate at 2Mbps if we use two nRF52840 for point-to-point communication?

Dear Sirs,

We are evaluating nRF52840 now, How far is the maximum range it can reach while keeping the data rate at 2Mbps if we use two nRF52840 for point-to-point communication?

Thanks.

Steven

  • I am unsure about an outdoor environment, but in a normal office with moderate to high WiFi interference, you should be able to get up to a couple of meters with a high throughput of around 1.2-1.3 Mbps. Again, to double check this, I would test it yourself to see if this is satisfactory.

There is also a great test that Gary from Android Authority did, which could be interesting to read. He got a throughput of 1.215 Mbps at a distance of 5m with one wall in between his two nrf52840 dev kits. You can assume a direct line of sight test would lead to greater range.
