Recommend other equivalent capacitor 100nF for nRF52832?

Hello Sir,

In last my custom nRF52832 PCB i have use 100nF capacitor mft part no: "C0402C104K4RACAUTO"  but now it is nor available in digikey.

So please sir provide me other part no as same so i can order. But it will available in digikey. Is it any problem if i use other part no capacitor if no please sir recommend equivalent mft part no.

Thanks in advanced.....

  • This is one the least critical components in the design, you can use just about any 100 nF capacitor you ca get your hand on. Check the voltage rating, this will probably be >25 V for most parts. X5R or better is good.

  • Thanks for your quick response,

But in reference BOM the description given of that Capacitor is X7R, ±10% for 100nF. In digikey i found two capacitor one X7R and other X5R which one is good for nRF52832:

    1.  CAP CER 0.1UF 16V X7R 0402 Part No is "CGA2B1X7R1C104K050BC"

    2. CAP CER 0.1UF 16V X5R 0402 Part No is "160R07X104KV4T"

As per the above which one use let me know.

    Thanks

  • There are many internet articles on the difference between X7R vs. X5R dielectrics but quick summary is:

    X5R dielectric : Operating Temperature: -55°C to +85°C

X7R dielectric : Its temperature variation of capacitance is within ±15% from -55°C to +125°C. This capacitance change is non-linear.

Above is from the AVX website. Summary: X7R is better than X5R but really only makes sense to pay the premium for the X7R version if you plan to use the end product at high temps. Also, each of the BOM must be also qualified for the higher temp.
