nRF Dongle not seen in Windows

Hi,

I've just bought nRF Dongle and wanted to start using it with nRF Connect app for desktop, however nothing happens when I plug it in: no sound of connecting a USB device, no refresh of Device Manager window. Any other USB device is properly recognized and I've tried multiple ports, also on another computer, with no difference. I have also installed nRF5x-Command-Line-Tools-Win32 , but it doesn't detect any device either.

I am using a notebook with Windows 10 professional, 64-bit operating system.

What might be wrong here? A faulty device?

  • It seems like the dongle does not get shown as a usb drive either, right (i.e. JLINK)? It might be that the dongle is empty when you received it maybe.

If this is the case, could you download the latest version of the OB file from this link here, then remove your nrf51 dongle from the usb port, hold the button on the side of the dongle & insert the dongle into the usb port again. Then, the LED on the dongle should start flashing & should appear in windows file explorer as a BOOTLOADER drive. Then, you can drag & drop the OB file to the dongle. If you then remove & insert the dongle again, you should be able to recognize it as a JLINK drive.
