When sniffing with "nRF connect" App.. why some phones get all advertising packets and others lost many of them ?

Hello,

I put PCA10040 Development kit as peripheral advertising packets, for example, every 100ms.

When we scan with "nRF connect" App on the Galaxy S4 phone we can see most of the packet in the graph of the application.

On the other hand, if we do same test with a BQ aquaris E5 or a Galaxy Note4, most of the advertising packets are lost. Any reason for this ?

Is an issue of the App or really packets are lost by the phone device ?

Thanks in advance,

Asier.

  • Hi MartinBL,

All phones I'm testing have scan mode "SCAN_MODE_LOW_LATENCY" and "Continuous scanning" option enabled at "nRF Connect" app.

I have one phone (Galaxy S4) with Android 5.0.1 that all advertising packets are shown in the graph of nRF connect app scanning. Otherwise, BQ Aquaris E5 with Android 5.0 too, but it looses most of them. Well, I don't know if it losses packets or simply not shows in app's graph.

I've also tested it with a peripheral broadcasting dynamic advertisement packets, to obtain one packet different from previous received but its behaviour same way.

Not receiving most of advertisement packets could affect to connections efficiency ?

    Regards,

    Asier.
