BLE to BLE Peripheral comms without Central

With the BT 5 extensions, is it now possible for BLE Peripherals to communicate with each other without a Central ?

In the envisaged application, one node would be the central point of contact, and all communication would go through it - but can this be done without it actually being a proper BLE Central ?

If it is, in principle, possible - do any of the Nordic Softdevices support it?

Hello Andrew,

Here is the documentation of the roles our Softdevice supports. 

Two peripherals cannot talk to each other directly, that is outside of the BLE protocol specification.

You could have a device working as a Central and be connected to all the peripherals (like this example) or you could have a device acting as both a central/peripheral device.

I am not sure what exactly what you want to achieve, so I would appreciate if you could describe it in more depth.

How many devices? Who should communicate? and so on..
