nRF52840-PDK (PCA10056) use as sniffer

Hi everyone,

I have two PCA10056 and I would like to use one as sniffer but the nRF-sniffer-V2 doesn't support this board. The subject has already been treat in this post :

Are there other solution to use PCA10056 as sniffer ?

And when the PC10056 will become compatible with the nRF-sniffer-V2 ?

Hi Sylvain.

As you said, there is currently no support for the PCA10056 (nRF52840 PDK).

We don't provide any other solution to use the nRF52840 as a sniffer either.

However, we do plan for the nRF Sniffer to support the PCA10056, but this will not happen until the official nRF52840 DK is released.
I can't give you an exact timeline to when there will be sniffer-support, but the nRF52840 DK's should be available very soon.

Also, the sniffer will be changed to support the official nRF52840 DK.
That means that the PDK's might work, but they will not be explicitly supported.

There still isn't support for the nRF52840-DK.

We are looking into improving our nRF Sniffer solution, but we currently don't have a timeline for when this will be finished and released.

I assume this is also true for the newly released nRF52840 USB Dongle (PCA10059)? No Bluetooth 5 sniffing (coded PHY, 2M PHY, and advertising extensions) available yet?

Hi.

There is still no support for the nRF52840 Dongle.

However, the nRF Sniffer was recently updated:

• Support for Data Length Extension and 2 Mbps (nRF52 DK and nRF52840 DK only)
• Support for nRF52 DK and nRF52840 DK (PCA10040 and PCA10056)

AFAIK, nRF52 uart only support 1Mbps, how to support for 2 Mbps on sniffer, which is uart interface(USB CDC) to PC.
