no response to reset

Hi,

After I reset nrf8001, RDY pin stays hi. I checked the crystal pin, there is no clock. I am using TSX-3225 from Epson with 12pf caps.

Am I suppose to see the clock after power on? instead of a clock I see a 0.95V DC on both crystal pins. I have checked all Vss and Vcc and they seem to be correct.

Please make sure you meet the specifications for the crystal as stated in chapter 14.1 16 MHz crystal oscillator specification requirements in the Product specification.

If you are trying to measure on the xtal pins you will most likely change the load capacitance so the chip fails to start up.

When After applying power to the chip you need to wait for 62ms then sample the RDYN line to see if the chip has a device started event, which is the first thing the chip will send to the spi master.

Thanks for you response. So the 16Mhz clock should be exist after powering up the chip even before triggering the reset signal. Right?

The 16MHz clock will be turned on after power on reset and reset. It is turned on and off automatically which means it will be running during radio and spi activity, and also during RC calibration if you use the 32 KHz internal RC. Unfortunately I do not know how you can check if the clock is ok if the chip won't boot, as trying to measuring the 16 MHZ clock likely will result in the clock not starting... I assume you have reviewed your schematic and done a visual inspection of your soldering?
