PPK question

HI:

I am Measuring current on custom hardware with nRF5x DK, Peak current is always too high during testing. Please give me some advice。

I am using the nRF52 DK development board,The firmware of PPK development board is ppk_110.hex,PPK software version is V2.3.

The hardware of the nRF52 DK did not change anything and erased all flash.

The example I tested was nRF5_SDK_13.1.0_7ca7556\examples\ble_peripheral\ble_app_template。

The hardware connection is as follows:

DUT'S VCC means VDD ?

The test current is too high. The tested example is nRF5_SDK_13.1.0_7ca7556\examples\ble_peripheral\ble_app_template,The same is true for other examples, and the current is also too high.

The connection of PPK is very simple, but why is the measured current high?

  • Hi,

It should give correct measurements, assuming you have correctly set the switches on the PPK as described in the figure from the documentation that you have included in your question. Are you confident that the measurements are wrong? Could there be some components on your DUT that actually consume a lot of current? Could you for example double check using another method, such as measuring the voltage over a (say 10 Ω) resistor on the supply line?

A common reason for getting high current measurements is reversing the polarity of the cables powering the DUT (between the PPK and DUT), but in that case the plot should have been cleaner (and obviously the DUT would not work).
