NRF8001 Linear Regulator

Do nRF8001 chip has its own internal linear regulator? or Does it need an external like the module created by Adafruit (https://cdn-learn.adafruit.com/assets/assets/000/035/756/original/adafruit_products_schem.png?1473958497)?

Yes, it does have an internal regulator. See the PS, chapter 6.3 DC converter.

Whether you need an external regulator depends on the power source you are planning to use. Make sure it is within specification.
