Hello everyone,

Similar question like mine was asked, but I didn't quiet get the answer i was looking for. 
I will try to keep it simple, when I open altium files of thingy52, and check for CAPC1005X04L footprint size, I measure 1.6mm x 0.5mm. When I try to search web stores like digykey or any other, there are no such size for a capacitor. How is this possible? I measured full length of footprint.

The package size is right in the model number.  1005 is the metric or SI equivalent for EIA 0402.

Either one can be read directly from the nomenclature.  So, 1005 is 0.5x1.0mm.  Similarly, 0402 is 20mil x 40mil.

Footprints will never be the same size of the part since the footprint has to accommodate a solder fillet, have enough paste to wet the part pad completely and also prevent tombstoning.
