nRF52840 DK not showing up on PC

Hi there.  I just got the nRF52840 DK and am trying to get going with it.  I have been looking at this getting started page:

https://www.nordicsemi.com/eng/Products/Getting-started-with-the-nRF52840-Development-Kit

I get the pulsing LEDs (step 5) and the LEDs change with the buttons (step 6) but the I never do see the DK on my computer (step 7).  I have tried on my (Windows 7) PC and on my Mac and have tried with multiple USB ports and cords.  What's going on here?

  • Hello erik,

Can you try with another microUSB cable? And do you use the microUSB connector at the short end of the board, or on the long end? Try the short end (marked with J2), as it is the USB port that is connected to the Segger chip (programming chip).

If this is the port that you have tried, then try another cable. Some microUSB cables only provide power, and doesn't have the data lines. Test the cable with something that you know works (e.g. a cellphone), and check that it is a cable that is able to transfer data.

Let me know if it still doesn't work.

    Best regards,

    Edvin
