PA / LNA support in S132

I am unable to set the PA/LNA Mode on NRF52832 using SDK 14.2 ( Soft Device Version S132 5.0 ) using the Fansttel BT832X SoC.

i have used the exact function on the below link, and I am calling this function straight from the main() handler at the beginning:

After setting and enabling the given PA/LNA GPIOs i am getting the following error:

err_code = sd_ble_opt_set(BLE_COMMON_OPT_PA_LNA, &opt);

It's returning  error Code 2 above. (BLE_ERROR_INVALID_CONN_HANDLE).

APP_PA_PIN -- (17)For the  the BT832X module, the GPIOs used for PA and LNA are:

APP_LNA_PIN -- (19).

Hi,

Did you enable the softdevice (ble_stack_init) before you called  sd_ble_opt_set(BLE_COMMON_OPT_PA_LNA, &opt);? Error code 0x2 corresponds to NRF_ERROR_SOFTDEVICE_NOT_ENABLED (defined in nrf_error.h).

Hi Aditya,

1) I am trying to enable PA on my BLE device(Laird BL654PA). From your experience, can you tell me how much increase in range did you see with using PA ? (like 1.5X, 2X, 3X or more)

2) With Fanstel's PA BLE chip, did you check range by connecting the BLE PA chip with your phone or with another BLE PA chip?

Please let me know as it will help in my understanding of benefits of having BLE chip with PA. Thank you
