IPv6 service UUID in advertising

Hi,

Ipv6 UUID 0x1820 shall be present in the advertising process. Is it mandatory to put it in the ADV_IND message or can it be in the SCAN_RSP one ? ... the scanner, 6BR or other, has to use the active scanning or the passive mode is enough ?

Thanks a lot.

  • Hi,

The specification states that this shall be included in the AD fields, and not in the SR fields. It might be that this works with some vendors, but it is highly recommended to use the method that is described by the IPSP GATT service specification:

    4.1.3 Service UUID AD Type
When in a GAP Discoverable Mode for an initial connection to a Router, the Node shall include
the IP Support Service UUID defined in [2] in the Service UUIDs AD type field of the advertising
    data.

The "shall" keyword is a requirement, while "should" keyword is optional when reading BT specs.

    Best regards,

    Håkon
