Does nRF UART 2.0 work on Android 4.4?

I downloaded the nRF UART 2.0 app for Android to a Samsung Galaxy S5, which is running Android 4.4.2. After the app attempts to scan, it never discovers any Bluetooth devices. Pressing the scan button numerous times, still returns no devices.

Using the Bluetooth scanner that came with the phone, it always finds my MacBook and other devices.

I do not have access at the moment to Galaxy S5, but at least it works fine on the S4 I have with Android 4.4.2 and I expect it to work as well on S5. Are you sure your device is advertising? A led on the evaluation kit should be lid if the device is advertising. Are you using the evaluation kit or something else?

If your device is advertising, try to disable Bluetooth and enable it again (in settings->bluetooth, and perhaps unpair any paired devices. If that does not work, you could try to reset your phone, just to make sure there is no hardware lockup that is causing your troubles

Report back if it still does not work and I will try again to get a hold of Galaxy S5 on my side so I can test this.

Ok, now I understand a little better your situation. The nRF UART v2.0 scans only BLE devices. When you go to settings -> Bluetooth and scan for devices there, it will scan for BLE devices and Bluetooth classic devices. So if you see no devices in nRF UART v2.0 when you press connect, I suspect it is because there are no BLE devices advertising. All the devices that you see in Settings -> Bluetooth are classic Bluetooth devices
