pca10000 firmware 0.9.0 throughput (Packet Drop with 0.9.0 vs No Drop with 0.8.0)

Hi,

What's the difference between a 0.9.0 pca10000 firmware and the earlier version (0.8.0)? I noticed that the throughput with 0.9.0 on the same dongle is much less than the 0.8.0. I was able to get high through put without loosing any notifications with 0.8.0 but start seeing dropped notifications after I upgraded the firmware to 0.9.0. Firmware version is the only thing that I change in this experiment.

I set the connection interval to 20ms, with SL=9 and supervision timeout 2s and trying to push 2.5kB/s data continuously.

Thanks, Bruce

  • Hi, I assume you are referring to Master Emulator Firmware (MEFW) versions.

Version 0.9.0 of MEFW has a limitation of 1 packet per connection interval. This reduces the throughput compared to 0.8.0.

This limitation will be lifted in a new version of MEFW which comes with next release of Master Control Panel.

  • Thanks Bjørn. Yes, I was referring to MEFW.

Since v2.1 pca10000 requires MEFW 0.9.0 to work properly, is there any other MEFW that I can use for v2.1 pca10000 to get high throughput? or is there any temporary workaround to get things going with the v2.1 hardware?

    Thanks, Bruce

  • There is no known workaround that will make MEFW 0.8.0 work on pca10000 v2.1 or make 0.9.0 get higher throughput. My advise is to wait for 0.10.0 that will be released with MCP 3.7.0 in a few weeks time.
