nRF52810 ANT Softdevice

On the product page the nRF52810 is mentioned as supporting ANT. https://www.nordicsemi.com/eng/Products/nRF52810

However in the info-center looking at the compatibility matrix no ANT soft-devices are mentioned. http://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.nordic.infocenter.nrf52%2Fdita%2Fnrf52%2Fcompatibility_matrix%2Fnrf52810_comp_matrix.html

Is it possible to develop a ANT product using the nRF52810?

  • Hi

Currently we don't have any ANT stacks for the nRF52810 unfortunately. You would have to use the nRF52832 instead, and use it with either the S212 or S332 SoftDevice (the first is ANT only, the second supports ANT and BLE).

If ANT support in the nRF52810 is critical for your product you should discuss it with your Nordic sales representative.
If you don't know who this is just send me a private message and I will find it out for you Slight smile

  • Hello,

we have quite the same problem. We have chosen the NRF52810 because it claims to be compatible with BLE and Ant+. Will there be a softdevice that supports both connections? Our thought was to allow for either Ant+ or BLE connection depending on the request of the master device. However right now, we do not even know if this will be possible using this chip.

    Thanks for your help!

    Best Regards,

    Clemens

  • Hi Clemens

I am still waiting for a reply internally on our plans for ANT support on the nRF52810, but what I can surely say is that we will not be able to support both ANT and BLE on this device.

The ANT/BLE SoftDevice for the nRF52832 is 180kB in size, and on the nRF52810 this would only leave you 12kB of flash for the application. This is not enough once you add all the libraries and modules needed to run BLE and ANT.

In other words, if you need to support both ANT and BLE in the same product I believe you will have to go for the nRF52832 either way.

I will still get back to you once I know more. It is possible to do ANT only on the nRF52810, and I will make sure to update you with our plans in this regard.
If we don't intend to do this I will ask to have our website and documentation updated to reflect this.

    Best regards
    Torbjørn

  • I have not seen a reply to the timing of an ANT stack from the nrf52810. Please post a timetable.
