NRF52840 / HFCLK input fed from an oscillator?

Hi there, 

Is it possible to feed XC1 or XC2 with an oscillator output rather than using a crystal? 

It would make sense for me in terms of application but I cannot see any mention of it so it makes me feel nervous. 

Also to implement low power states, I could turn it on and off via GPIO but would it cause issue regarding the state machine of the HFCLK Clock Control block...

Any ideas?

It is not possible to use an oscillator unfortunately, the radio requires a crystal.
