How to program nrf52840 flash using UART interface

Hi,

Giving make flash command uses segger jlink in the interface MCU as programmer right. I tried to use nrfutil dfu serial -pkg package.zip -p COM_PORT for UART transport command but it only takes DFU package right. So if I want to use UART interface to upgrade any application/ softdevice/ MBR/ bootloader in .hex file format then what is the procedure?

 Please take a look at the documentation for nRF5x Command Line Tools, especially "Programming nRF5x SoCs with nrfjprog".

So the nrfjprog only works through jlink debugger. Can't I program any flash region I like through UART?

Sorry, I misread your first post.

That should not be a problem, you just have to generate the DFU packages for what you want to program over UART.

I must create the package containing softdevice,application,bootloader+bootloader settings page and the update package over UART. Cant I program individual .hex files one after other through UART?

Hi Jonnavittula,

That should be possible, but then you would need to have a custom bootloader already on the chip.

You could for example run through a script that handles the separate handling of DFU over UART.
