Power calculations for 52840 using softdevice 6.1.0 and extended advertising with coded lr

Has anyone built a power profiler for the 52840 yet that includes coded Phy s=8 and s=2, extended advertising and larger output powers to +8dBm.

I see that the power profiler is still very limited in capabilities and it would be nice to simulate some packet sizes and coding styles with number of advertising channels, beacon interval, etc

Even a spreadsheet that would allow you to select

number of advertising channels, packet size, coding style, and output power on a fixed interval would be useful.

I just don't have a great grasp of radio on time for extended advertising in S=8 and S=2.

  • Thank you it is much improved but I do see that several features are still missing. There is the capability to calculate power on coded s=8 but that is only in a connected scenarios instead of a beaconing scenario. Also S=2 is still needed and extended advertising. Advertising on single channel is also needed so if a drop down was given for number of channels to advertise on that would be good too.

    To summarize

    1) ability to specify number of advertising channels for beacons 1-3

    2) ability to specify coded s=8, s=2, 2MBPS with advertising connectable option selected

    3) ability to specify extended advertising or standard when in advertising connectable is selected

Any idea when these can be added for a complete power estimate solution

  • Ok, thanks for the feedback. I'll discuss with the team if this is something we can try to get in there soon, and I'll come back with an estimate on when.
