Low power node in nrf52 BLE mesh

Hello Nordic

My device is consuming ~4mA in normal (I already use function "sd_power_dcdc_mode_set(NRF_POWER_DCDC_ENABLE)" )

As i know that the current SDK mesh v2.1.1 is not supported Low Power Node and Friend node in Mesh network.

So please help me know that when new SDK will be released with new feature low power node or anyway to help my device cost lower power?

Thank you so much

  • Hi,

Friendship (Friend nodes and Low Power nodes) is high on our list of what do implement next for our nRF5 SDK for Mesh.

For details regarding when this will be, please contact our sales representative for your area. If you do not know who that is, you can either ask in a private ticket or by direct message, and we will provide the contact details.

  • Hi Terje,

we currently evaluating your Bluetooth Mesh IC modules. Is 4mA offically confirmed by Nordic? I cannot find that in the technical specification.

Further can you say when friend and low power node features will be released? I see that it wasn't described in the Mesh SDK 2.2.0 release notes. Can you say something to the energy consumption on low power nodes? Is there already some official note?

  • Hi,

Normal operation in mesh is to be in RX, with typical run current of 5.4 mA for nRF52832. That means 4 mA actually sounds low for a Mesh relay node.

Friendship should be much lower than for relay nodes. It should be comparable to a standard BLE device, but as we have not completed the implementation of that yet we do not have the numbers.

We have scheduled Friendship (Friend Node and Low Power Node) for the next (upcoming) release. For details and timeline for future releases, please contact our sales representative for your area.

    Regards,
    Terje
