Possible to differentiate between android and ios on connection

Hi, I have a peripheral device that needs to connect to both Android and iOS phones. Depending on which type of phone it connects to it is required to perform different tasks. Is there a straightforward way to determine the os type without having to build a custom service that allows the peripheral device to be written to with the appropriate os information?

I don't think there is.

I believe that iOS is the only OS that uses a private resolvable address, but this could change in the future.

It could be possible if all iOS and Android devices used a public address. Then the Organizationally Unique Identifier (OUI) would be included as a part of the address.
