Power consumption 52832

Hi,

I am relatively new to programming hardware at this level, and have developed our product on the 52832, so finally I have purchased the Power Profiler Kit, and downloaded the NRFConnect and power profiler software.

Please see the attached screen shot, and can I ask if this is a good result in power consumption, or should I be trying to improve it further?

Sorry for such a newbie question, and any extra information or links to information to learn about power consumption more, would be fantastic, and much appreciated.

Hi Jason,

Yes, this looks acceptable. It depends on a few factors, but it seems like you should be able to get a battery life of more than 1,5 years on a typical coin cell battery (3 V, 200 mAh).

Hi Jason,

You can calculate battery life in a simplified way like this:

Battery life [h] = (battery capacity [mAh]) / (average current consumption [mA])

A CR2016 might give you about 80 mAh, so you get up to 0.75 years if you have an average current consumption of 11.6 μA. You should expect a significant variation though. And batteries are not as straightforward as this simple calculation suggests. This article is interesting if you want to understand more about coin cell batteries.
