Does the NRF51822 have a more sophisticated PWM capability than toggling GPIOs?

The NRF51822 PWM examples I have located work by toggling GPIOs. Does the device have a more sophisticated mechanism than this for generating PWM signals? More pecifically, PWM signals are in some cases generated with a comparator and a reference signal. Does the device have any such capability on-board?

Hi,

You can generate a PWM pulse with the use of a timer and the peripherals PPI+GPIOTE. We have a library posted on our github: github.com/.../nrf51-pwm-library

The PWM will be self-running once started, meaning that the MCU can sleep while this is outputting on a pin. When updating the value, the MCU is needed.
