Scanning Beacons with other Bluetooth device

I am working on a project that I need to trigger a device (Coded with c language) through beacons. Is there any example code or functions I can leverage for these purposes? I am specifically interested in scanning beacons raw data or UUID,major and minor. Thank you very much!
