I'm new to use nordic. I am using thingy 52.  I would like to add a new custom feature that communicate text via BLE from app, store the text as userid in the thingy and check if the userid is matching the userid in the app before the sound streaming is enabled. Thank's for a further reply and for the time. You'll need a j-link programmer and the Thingy SDK. 

I suggest you buy an nRF52 DK as they have an on-board J-link debugger that you can use to debug external boards like the Thingy, as well as support for the nRF5 SDK v15.0.0 examples.
