How to reduce the range of the nRF52?

In a documentation i read that i can transmit power at minimum of -40 dBm ?But i cannot achieve my target as my range has to be minimum of one meter?

So how do reduce the range upto 1 meter? how do  i transmit power lower than -40 dBm??

You will have to attenuate the signal, the radio cannot transmit any lower than -40dBm.
