Online Power Profiler Comparison with the datasheet figures

Hi Support , 

I'm estimating the average consumption of nRF52840 chip .

Regarding the BT consumption , I used the Online Power Profiler  an got the results . But these vary with the datasheet to a great extent .

Like , as per inline tool my consumption was around 2.4mA but the datasheet says around 6.26mA.

Should I go forward with the online tool or should consider the datasheet ??

The online power profiler and datasheet should be quite similar. The online tool is based on nRF52832 but it should not be that different from nRF52840. Can you please describe how you got to the number 6.26mA?

I haven't calculated this figure but took from the datasheet as it is. 

Radio RX @ 1 Mb/s Bluetooth Low Energy mode, Clock = HFXO................................6.4mA

The reading that I've got from online tool is for 31 bytes with 7.5ms  .

Radio RX from the datasheet is only when the radio is active in RX mode. If you look at the online power profiler you can see the corresponding RX peak in the BLE event. So the current in the datasheet is only for this single peak current.

You can use the numbers in the datasheet to calculate the average current, but this is complicated and you need a good understanding about how BLE is working at the physical layer. That's why we created the online power profiler, so you don't need to do these calculations.
