Any instruction to use "nordic app" for Bluetooth PTS profiles testing?

Hi, I am using PTS v7.0 for Bluetooth profiles testing for a home device with Android O system.  The PTS instruction of Android AOSP indicates "nordic app installed and running" for some testing.

(1). What "nordic app" is this? should I install the app in the DUT device?  I can't find any "nordic app" in the Google Play in the DUT device.

(2). or maybe, should I install the app on host Linux PC (with Android AOSP) for the profiles testing?

thanks,

  • Hi Bjørn,

thanks for your feedback. No my device doesn't include nRF52xxx. But Android-Open-Source-Project (AOSP) system has a PTS test suite, one of the instruction - the ScPP_PTS_Instruction gives the following test guide (copy here):

    TC_SCPP_CL_SPWF_BV_01_I (test case):
Have NRF (nordic app installed and running)
    gattc_connect_over_le
    gattc_enable_notification_desc_by_instance_id 0075
From nordic send a write command to the Scan Refresh Characteristic of any text value.
    gattc_disconnect

I think this is a general test instruction for Android Bluetooth product, not specifically for nRF chip. Anyway, I need to install a nordic app in order to finish this test case. Any idea with it?

  • If your home product running Android O is a BLE peripheral, then it could be that they mean that you should use the nRF Connect for Mobile on a smartphone to test the services hosted by your product.

None of our IC's are capable of running Android, hence we do not develop any tools for testing Android Bluetooth products.
