Current consumption is same with 3.3V and 1.8V supply.

Hi,

We are evaluating LairdTech BL654 module for our BLE application. We are able to use NRF 15.2 SDK to setup BLE based connection and data transfer.

We are sending around 1KBPS of data and current consumption is around 500uA with both 1,8V supply and 3.3V supply or 5V supply.

We are using Heart rate profile example.

Is this a known behavior ?

If you don't enable the internal DCDC regulator, the chip uses the internal LDO regulator by default. In LDO regulators the current is not a function of voltage.

Remember to turn off logging, this will consume about 0.5mA when active. (NRF_LOG_ENABLED in sdk_config.h)

Usually it's disabled by default in the SDK example code. You can read out this register to see if it is enabled or not: http://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/topic/com.nordic.infocenter.nrf52840.ps/power.html?cp=2_0_0_4_2_6_9#register.DCDCEN

Or you can just write 0 or 1 to the register in start of main to disable or enable the DCDC.

DCDCEN is for the VDD regulator. DCDCEN0 is for the HVDD regulator (high voltage).
