nRF51822 road map / Bluetooth 4.1 Specification Deprecation Impact

Hi,

In looking down the road for product enhancements and migration to the 5.0 Bluetooth specification.  I am interested and wondering if any discussion about chipset production life expectancy or future support of the nrf51822 has occured and what impact if any will the deprecation of the Bluetooth Sig. 4.0, 4.1 have on the current hardware offerings along with the software stack?

Hi,

 

The nRF51822 is still going to be supported for the foreseeable future. As for depecation of 4.0 and 4.1 I suppose there is not a whole lot we can do about that, but keep in mind that the S130 Softdevice for the nRF51 series is 4.2 compliant.
